Volunteer Highlights

"In the summer of 2009, I had the opportunity to spend a month with CPTI, providing marketing and IT consulting services on a volunteer basis.  Along with a handful of CPTI employees and volunteers, our small team built a marketing and fundraising plan, along with a full redesign of the CPTI website (www.cpti.org.br) and logo. This project was an incredible learning experience for me as I was completely immersed into the Brazilian culture and ways of life in the Campinas region from day 1 of my arrival.

The opportunity to work with CPTI taught me many lessons about volunteerism and leadership, opened my eyes to social causes not only in my own world, but in the world outside of the US, and reinforced the fact that 'family' and 'compassion' are alive and well wherever you may travel in this world.  I came to Brazil with no real expectations, and was truly moved by the love and openess that our team was greeted with from day 1.  At no point did we feel as outsiders, and for the first time in my life, I could really see the impact of my work on the lives of the CPTI employees and the wonderfil boys and girls that they serve.

I know now that I have friends in Brazil for life.  And I truly feel that one of the most significant things that I have done in my lifetime was to travel to Brazil, volunteer my time and talents with CPTI, and meet some wonderful people that give each and every day to this wonderful organization."

"In the beginning it is always difficult, never knowing what we might find, which also brings about a certain "fear" - my God what lies ahead? But in the first five minutes in a CPTI classroom, all this goes away. Working in CPTI is more than just a job every two weeks, it is an opportunity to help others realize their dreams.

Working with CPTI allows me to see our young people growing up with goals, trust and the belief that the future can be different. I let here a big hug for all the people that are special and important and will always be part of my life - my students."

Carlos Bittar – Voluntary Professor of Marketing

I get very happy when I see CPTI,  that I helped build, grow the way it did, and among with it the community with water, light, sewage, telephone, asphalt and the Community Center where courses and meetings happens.

Today I’m volunteer at CPTI because I love helping others, and I’m also part of the neighboorhood board thinking about making this community better. And I can’t forget Mr. Elídio Guimarães who fought hard for everything we have today and still fights even not being the president anymore, this neighborhood board only wants to see the  good of this people who suffer so much in life. May the CPTI and this community walk together forever."

With the improvement of social conditions, health assistance and sanitation in the country we had a large decrease in infant mortality (children lower than 1 year old) and preschoolers.Lately, with sócio-cultural changes of modern times, with a huge number of disaggregated families, easy access to drugs, early sexual initiation and violence exposure, teenagers have become one of the major concerns of public health.

And just to attract teenagers to health centers is a big challenge, because they generally feel very healthy and invunerable. By this a partnership with such wonderful NGO as CPTI, that already attracts so many adolescents, is a privilege for our work at Jd. Rosália’s Health Center. The talks about health themes we had with youngs of CPTI in 2007 were apparently very well accepted. For 2008 we are amplifying a lot the list of activities, like groups of preagnent teenagers, group of teenagers that multiplies healthy living habits, etc. That together we may help more to guarantee a youth with HEALTH AND PEACE!."
